What is Electrolysis?: It is the only form of permanent hair removal process approved by the FDA. Using a fine needled probe it is inserted into the hair follicle and using electric current it destroys the region within the follicle so it is no longer possible for hair growth. This process is not laser hair removal.
How to prepare for your appointment: please make sure you have not shaved, waxed, or tweezed within 3-4 days of your appointment. The hair length wise should be enough to be taken out with tweezers. If you are sensitive in anyway you can take any type of pain reliever or apply any topical numbing cream 30-45 minutes beforehand. If possible, avoid caffeine on the day of your appointment. Make sure to drink plenty of water as well.
How many treatments does it take?: Initially patience is required because the area of treatment is cleared as the hair growth cycles. Over the coming months you will begin to see less in the treated areas. Total number of treatments vary from person to person due to a number of factors which are past hair removal methods, hormones, stress and medication. Also, different areas of the body have different hair growth cycling times.
What areas can be treated?: Almost all areas of the face, head, and body can be treated.
Post-Care information: Tiny bumps, redness, and even soreness are normal and temporary after thermolysis treatments. I ask that you keep the area clean after treatment and if swelling has not gone down you can use a warm compress to soothe it. Most effects go down within 1-2 days depending on the individual. In some circumstances scabs can occur and it is your body's natural way of healing which also will usually subside in a couple days. If you are someone who gets in growns please apply warm compress followed by a gentle exfoliator to release the hairs from the skin.
